Mamquam students had a blast riding, scooting, skateboarding, wheeling and rollerblading to school this week! It was great to see our bike racks full! We want to thank the many local businesses that donated prizes for this event. Thank you to Optomeyes, Nesters, ISL Engineering, Tantalus Bike Shop, Tantulus Doors, 7MESH, Capra Running, Urban Alpine, The Little Book Shop, Pure Gift Boxes and Samurai Sushi.

On Thursday we hosted a “CD Release Party” for our first ever released single “Dancing Through the Storm”.   In early May we had Hayley McLean (Texada Music) come and work with students to write and record a song around our RAVEN value “Brave”.  The students learned about how music is created, sounds are layered and how the process comes together.   Hayley was a master at engaging our students in the process and I am proud to say that our whole school is represented in final version of this song.

Mamquam's Track and Field Team took part in the two day Track Meet at Don Ross Middle School this week. The students participated in high jump, long jump, shot put and running events. Congratulations to all of the athletes.

This week we finished up our two weeks of drumming and guitar lessons with Papa Josh. The students had an amazing time and hearing the music creations in the halls was so great.

Monday May 29th to Friday June 2nd is Wheel to School Week, you can ride your bike, scooter or basically anything with wheels to school (except cars). Leadership Students will be handing out healthy snacks before school as students arrive and entering their name into a draw for prizes.

We had an amazing World Ocean Day Pep Rally Assembly on May 24th. A huge thank you to Minna Koskela-Wild for connecting our Mamquam community to the ocean. Students had the opportunity after to contribute to a whole school poster, writing what the ocean means to them.

Family Smart's June, In the Know Event: Beyond Behaviours: When is it More? What it Looks Like at Ages 4-8 Years

This is a free, virtual presentation, but registration is required (registration info is on the attached poster). It will be offered at five different dates throughout the month of June for easier accessibility.

Our Bike Rodeo was a great success! The students had lots of fun having their bikes and helmets checked and participating in the driving test! Thank you to the Rotary and all of the volunteers that made it happen!

This week some of our Grade 4, 5 and 6 students on our Track and Field Team were hard at work practicing for the upcoming Track Meet at Don Ross Middle School taking place on May 24th and 25th.
